DETIKDJAKARTA.COM.JAKARTA,-After a virtual format over the past two years, the 22” edition of the European Untan (EU) film festival “Eurape on Screen” (sos) wil be hosted in a hybrid format for 2022. The offline screenings will be held from 16 to 26 June 2022 in several major cities in Indonesia: Jakarta, Bandung, Denpasar, Medan, Surabaya, and Yogyakarta. Meanwhile, audiences can also watch a selection of films via online screenings on fastivalscope.com from 20 to 30 June 2022. All Eo5 2022 film screenings and side events are free of charge.
EU Ambassador to Indonesia, H.E. Mr Vincent Piket said, “This year, the Europe on Screen film festival will feature 69 latest films from 20 EU Member States and 5 other European countries. There Is a diverse selection of impressive films, (rom thriller to comedy, from romance to musical, from drama to horror. Severat are award-winning films capturing the predominant issues of today: the pandemic, migration, war. We will also showcase a range of interesting side events such as film talks, webinars and exhibitions.”
The festival will open with Do Not Hesitate (2021), a film from the Nethertands, on 16 June 2022: and it will conclude with The Big Hit (2020), a film from France, on 26 June 2022.
The Festival Co-director Nauval Yazid said, “Do Not Hesitote was chosen as the opening film, not onty because this film was the Dutch submission for the 94” Oscar In the international Feature Film category, but the film’s story about humanity among soldiers in areas of conflict is a timety reflection of the current state of the world we are in.” The Festival Co-director Meninaputri Wismurti added, “Europe on Screen always tries to screen films that will appeal and have resonance to our audiences in Indonesia. The closing film The Big Hit is a comedy with a big heart, and it surely will inspire everyone to keep on dreaming and trying.”
EoS has also provided support to the Indonesian flim Industry through Short Film Pitching Project (SFPP) competition. This annyal competition calis for entries from emerging Indonesian filmmakers who have brilliant ideas for short films, with the winners awarded partial funding to produce their pitch Into 3 film and have their films premiered in €0S the following year. The Competition, which started In 2018, has produced some astounding films that have been screened at various short film festivals around the world.
“The Indonesian film Industry Is growing, where Indonesian films gathered recognition from International festivais. Events like SFPP EoS 2022 are vital in supporting the Indonesian film industry, as It gives birth to the next generation of filmmakers, especially for short film productions,” said Gita Fara, a Producer and one of the SFPP EoS 2022 judges. The worid premiere of three short films that won EoS SFPP 2021 wilt be held at GoetheHaus on 19 June 2022 at 13:00. The three Short films are:
1. Bibir Merah Siapa yang Punya — Pawadi Jihad & Haris Supiandi (Pontianak)
2. Men and Their Birds — Andrew Kose & Evi Cecilia (Jakarta)
3. What Ceti Does (Sejarah Ceti) — Azatis Mucbransyah & Adhi Anugroho (Bog -r) These films will also be shown online on 20-30 June 2022 at festivalscope.com.
KN aa lele Ll Gi Bea AL jn addition, EoS 2022 will place a special focus on the legendary Italian film director Federico Fellini. This retrospective programme, called #Fellini102, will feature screenings of his classic films, a new documentary about the making of his classic fiims and an exhibition displaying his visual works. The retrospective programme will open at the Istituto Italiano di Cultura (NC) on 17 June 2022.
